We human beings possess something extraordinary: the ability to create fictions that feel more real than reality itself. We can speak and build from dimensions that transcend the everyday, the material, the "sensible." Our emotions generate stories as powerful and necessary as any religious text, offering refuge from whatever political systems or economic structures currently hold sway over our daily lives.

Theatre becomes our laboratory for these transformations. When we step into the theatre—whether as performers or audience members—we enter a space where the inherited scripts of our culture can be rewritten, where the official versions of reality can be challenged and reimagined.

Think of every great theatrical moment you've witnessed. Wasn't it essentially someone taking the materials of their inherited world—language, gesture, story, space—and transforming them into something that revealed new possibilities for being human? - Sahityaz, Aug 03, 2025
