Yes i'm aware of that. I 'm also aware of the incredibly high regard RRMR was held in by luminaries including Vidyasagar & Sri Aurobindo. Perhaps they were not aware of the full body of his works which we have the luxury to view in totality today.
When a ~100 years ago Sri Aurobindo supported and Tilak opposed the Hindu intercaste marriage bill of Sardar Patel’s brother-Aurobindo clearly stated that he would prefer an organic evolution of views but given that state is now important such a bill is also inevitably important.
Just as we revere Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo for their direction to an entire Yuga, we can and should examine others including Roy by their words and actions, while factoring context and without being absolutist.
Nestling everything under a macro would be a disservice.

The word activism tends to conjure different imagery depending on the institutional
and geopolitical context. However, in left progressive circles it has usually connoted
something challenging towards or resistant to injustice, and aligned with broadly progressive and democratic values. As recently as 2012, social media were being lauded as a new means of progressive social change in a bouquet of other tools against autocracy in the Global South. Based on original interviews over the past five years, this article outlines starkly, and from an intersectional socialist-feminist perspective, the dangers of allowing a warm fuzzy conception of activism to divert attention from the fascist politics being enacted online across vast swathes of the Global South, including in Brazil and India.

India seems to be heading for a prolonged phase of intellectual anarchy as a response and resistance to Hindutva. Revisionist sections within the Hindutva camp itself are acting as catalytic forces for such an implosion. Judicial stances on some social issues are another trigger.
