Savitri Era of those who adore,
Om Sri Aurobindo & The Mother.

Playing with multiple lenses to catch the sight of a preconceived landscape can be illusory and frustrating. Sri Aurobindo, and no other person, gives an authentic version of truth, the most coherent cosmology. It's an integral whole and not, merely, a synthesis of East and West.

Sr Goel showers praises for Dayanand in his book, "How I became Hindu" and says as below: "It was years later when I read Sri Aurobindo's Bankim, Tilak, Dayananda that I bowed, in repentance and renewed reverence, before that fearless lion of a man who tried his best to ...

If aspiration is the yardstick, we all count for nothing. Sri Aurobindo who aspired to express the play of Higher on material world & Nietzsche, who aspired to express the overcoming of human by humans.
How many people on Twitter (both Tamil & Hindi speaking folks) know that Amritlal Nagar spent lot of time in Madras? In fact he wanted to associate himself, in a long term with Tamil movie industry. He had few minor associations. He was the man who dubbed M.S. Subbulakshmi's

Savarkar and Aurobindo had read the patterns correctly, they were truly attuned in that sense, both would have made a killer combo in post independence politics, sadly one became a victim of wrong political camp, the other completely renounced politics and the system.

Two more books came in the mail today.
One, ‘India that is Bharat: Coloniality, Civilisation, Constitution’ by @jsaideepak — first of a trilogy — and a decolonial examination of the subject.

It was a pleasure to host Mr @jsaideepak today. His book is a must read for anyone wanting to understand the impact of colonialism. IMHO, there is a big diff btwn works / views of scholars of political Hindutva - Savarkar to Elst - n those of spiritual / philosophical Hinduism - Dayanand, Vivekanand, Sri Aurobindo, etc to Gurudatt, Ram Swarup, etc. n some such SR Goel stand in both camps.

An anecdotal observation, doesn’t deserve a detailed study. Those whose worldview have been informed entirely by Goel-Elst,have a skewed and factually unfounded view of modern history of India and suffer from a bias against Bengalis.Specifics rebutting 👇presented in other tweets:
I have read several of Goel’s books myself& think highly of those on medieval history, still. His books are the first i read when I got interested in history, I loved those then, but later as I siffed through primary sources of modern history, I realized their limitations on that:

I didn’t deny RKM has some issues, but overall their contribution has been monumental. Its suicidal to pull down Hindu religious institutions, of which only few exists. And they are purely Hindu despite their selective & opportunist attempt in court

Origin of Bharat Mata-chronology: 1)Play by Kiran Chandra Bannerjee, Bhārat Mātā,1873;2) Bankimchandra Chatterjee,Anand Math 1880; 3) Abanindranath Tagore in his painting, 1905 ; 4) Bhawani Bharat poem by Sri Aurobindo & 5) Vijaya, Tamil magazine 1909. https://t.co/BEp4MmG2bX

Please read the same continuity in Sri Aurobindo’s Savitri where he reinterprets Savitris dialogue with Yama the god of death in terms of the souls journey and evolution @SavitriEra @Sanjays81301051

Sri Aurobindo is largely neglected by the academic community and people do not appreciate that he represents a very important moment in the development of the Indian philosophical tradition @SavitriEra

Savarkar was inspired by Mazzini, I don't know if Aurobindo was. Also, I don't think Mazzini played any role in the specific issue of Bharat Mata notion.

I wd like to emphasize the Aurobindo-Deuskar-Tilak picture of "Maratha-Bengal" dynamic rather than anyone giving highbrow lessons to the other on how superior they have been. Each had its errors and points of sincerity. Lets keep lessons from both and not look down on the other.
