March 29: Anniversary of the first meeting of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo

There were pictures of “The Mother”and “Sri Aurobindo” in some of the rooms. The Mother, originally known as Mirra Alfassa, was a disciple and collaborator of ...
I saw people lost in silence meditating, oblivious to me or the world around. The quietness was deafening. A perfect place to find solace indeed.
We spent a few more minutes near the entrance and then made our way to the famous yet modest Canara Coffee House to fill our empty stomachs.
GOOD TO KNOW:
Entry to the Ashram is Free.
Anyone interested in meditation or just exploring the building can visit the Ashram.
No restriction on photography – although I would suggest avoiding so in the meditation hall, given the spiritual nature of the place.
Go visit this place – for the architecture, if not for spirituality!

I have learned to take more pleasure in the company of others by looking for and appreciating the beauty that lies in almost everyone whether they’re talking about the sacred or the profane, the profound or the mundane.
I hope you make it into MIT and get to do the kind of work there that you heart longs to do, but I also hope that, whether you do or don’t, you’ll find life to be richer and more fulfilling than you seem to now, and that other people from all walks of life and levels of intelligence will come to occupy a more vital and pleasurable part of your life than they seem to now.

B'atman vs. Strawman - I still don't have any great compulsion to blog. Frankly, the mystery is what possessed me to march forth with it for ten years -- including every day for much of that span. For starters, how did I find the time? Oh, right. Didn't have to drive my son to school in the morning.

For the past three or four months, I've felt a bit like a shaken snow globe. I keep waiting for the particles to settle into a harmonious new metapattern, but maybe this is the new pattern. Or, perhaps writing is what helped settle the globe. After all, writing is one way to reduce chaos to order: to forge a little microcosmos ex nihilo.

But lately I've felt that the order is something of a sham. Whistling past the graveyard. Just-so stories for cosmic drifters. Verbal campfires that last for a night. Then again, that's what the blog was always about: wrestling with O in order to extract a warm little Nugget of Joy for the day.

Eh. Brainier birds than I have concluded that our most exalted scribbling is so much straw. As Aquinas might say, "get in line." POSTED BY GAGDAD BOB AT 3/04/2016 09:33:00 AM 1 week ago

Commonweal (blog) - ‎Martha Nussbaum, for many years Putnam's colleague at Harvard, has written an essay
he thought that philosophy was for all human beings, a wake-up call to the humanity in us all... that the messy matter of human life should not be distorted to fit the demands of an excessively simple theory, that what Putnam called "the whole hurly-burly of human actions" should be the context within which philosophical theory does its work.

Datta, Amal Kiran, and Kishor Gandhi

A very well composed material.
Amal Kiran's interpretations through his article 'The Supermind's Descent and The Mind of Light' along with the above article gives a good amplification to 'The Supramental Manifestation upon Earth' by Sri Aurobindo.
Thanks of the article.

There are so many aspects to Sri Aurobindo’s thought and vision that the arrival of new books inspired by his work in various fields is not uncommon... Sri Aurobindo had praised Puranic literature and regretted the tendency to misunderstand its purpose, method and sense. He said that one must understand the nature of the Indian religious imagination at that time to appreciate that these writings are “only a new form and extension of the truth of the ancient spirituality and philosophy and socio-religious culture”.
Sri Aurobindo considered the Veda to be the source of Indian civilisation and an essential influence on the development of philosophy, religion, and spirituality throughout world history. To view previous issues of SABDA eNews, visit our Newsletters page. New releases: http://www.sabda.in/new.php
